Mastec – Our history

Mastec AB was founded in 1985 by the Carlsson family and has since developed into a stable and long-term industrial group with an international presence. Already in the early years, the foundation for growth was laid through the acquisition of Swedform AB, which marked the start of a journey characterized by entrepreneurship, business acumen, and confidence in the future. During the late 1990s, important strategic changes were implemented, with Swedform Metall being divested and focus shifting toward globalization and international expansion, including the establishment of a wholly owned subsidiary in China.

Mastec broadens and strengthens

In the early 2000s, Mastec took clear steps to broaden and strengthen its offering. Through acquisitions in plastic and metal processing, a more complete industrial platform was created. The acquisition of Mastec Precision AB marked the entry into advanced metal processing, and shortly thereafter additional investments followed in surface treatment and component manufacturing. These companies were gradually brought together under the Mastec name and laid the foundation for today’s group structure.

In 2006, Mastec reached an important milestone by inaugurating its own factory in Shanghai, further strengthening the group’s global competitiveness and proximity to international customers. In that same year and the years that followed, several strategic acquisitions and mergers were carried out, streamlining operations and creating clearer business units.

Mastec continues to evolve

During the 2010s, Mastec continued to evolve through both acquisitions and innovation. Operations were further strengthened in the plastics segment, while the group launched proprietary products such as Premere and Flexipac. In parallel, Mastec’s identity was clarified through the launch of a shared set of core values and a new visual profile, which further strengthened the brand.

In 2014, the next generation of the Carlsson family took over leadership of the group when Henrik Carlsson assumed the role of Group CEO. With a long-term perspective and a clear focus on efficiency, quality, and customer value, Mastec continued its growth journey, including expansion into Poland and the implementation of Lean Enterprise as a way of working.

In recent years, the focus has been on investments for the future. Through investments in modern and efficient business systems, Mastec has created the conditions for continued development, increased scalability, and a strong position to meet tomorrow’s demands and opportunities as well.
